Virat Kohli - The Best In The Fab 4

Virat Kohli - The Best In The Fab 4

Every era has its own Fab4who are nightmares for the opposition but a true delight to watch when they are on the crease.

FAB 4 OF THE MODERN ERA

The 'Fab Four' of the current generation are dominating world cricket now in all formats with their unique style of scoring. The Fab Four includes the Team of former Indian captain Virat Kohli, former Australian captain Steven Smith, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, and England Test captain Joe Root.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY FAB 4?

Fab 4  basically refers to the elite class of batsmen who have their own natural aura, who are matchwinners for their team & who are the prolific leading run scorers of their era.

There's a constant debate among cricket lovers & pundits, but there is no denying the fact that all these players play a pivotal role for their respective teams, and score runs when matters the most, but for all Indians fans he is the best.

Let's have a look at the journey of our hero  from the beginning to the highest level :

Virat Kohli, former Indian captainis a very aggressive batsman who always keeps the bowlers on their toes all the time. In August 2008, he was selected for inclusion in the ODI squad for the tour of Sri Lanka and the Champions Trophy in Pakistan. On 18 August 2008, Kohli made his international debut at the age of 19 in the first ODI of the tour, where he was dismissed for 12 runs, caught dead in front by an in-cutter from Nawan Kulsekra.

VIRAT KOHLI

I saw him first playing in Delhi against Sri Lanka, when India was 2 down, he batted so fluently as if he was a senior batsman. He never looked like a newbie which eventually helped Gautam Gambhir at other to anchor India to victory.

VIRAT-GAMBHIR PARTNERSHIP

That was just the start of his  Career...... very soon he got selected for the 2011 world cup & he made justice to his selection on the night of a dramatic final vs the same nemesis SRI LANKA.

Virat Kohli's contribution to the 2011 WC final victory is also one of the unsung aspects. The Delhi batter, featuring in his first senior Cricket World Cup, walked into bat under tremendous pressure. India was reduced to 31 for 2 after Lasith Malinga removed the Indian openers, who were also two of the team's biggest match-winners - Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag.

Kohli scored 282 runs in his maiden world cup with a century against Bangladesh and a well-crafted fifty against West Indies in the last group stage match which is very crucial.

He has so far scored  12,898 runs with an astonishing average of 57.32(highest among the Fab 4) with 65 half-centuries and 46 100's.

KOHLI: THE RUN MACHINE

Breakthrough in Test cricket

Kohli debuted at Kingston in the first match of the Test series that followed. He batted at 5th position and was dismissed on scores of 4 and 15, caught behind off the bowling of Fidel Edwards in both innings. He struggled a lot in his test career until 2017.

Kohli got double centuries in the next two Test series against England and Bangladesh, making him the first batsman ever to score double centuries in four consecutive series. He broke the record of Australian great Donald Bradman and Rahul Dravid, both of whom had managed to get three. Against England, he scored his then-highest Test score of 235.

So far he has amassed 8416 runs at an average of 48.93 with 28 100s as well as 50's.

VK'S T20 STATS:

Virat has played 364 T20 matches in his career scoring 11,540 runs at an overwhelming average of 50+ which is the highest among the Fab Four. He has scored 6 centuries in this format. He's been apart of  RCB since 2008.

He is also a 2-time player of the series in T20WCs(2014 &2016).

He is now 34, hope he can entertain us and win more ICC trophies for us.
